The cradle of acupuncture
Acupuncture comes from the Far East, historical documents were found in Sri Lanka, China and Japan.
When acupuncture is in question, we usually think of the Chinese acupuncture, which will be discussed here.

Must the man first become ill to start using acupuncture?
Not at all! The traditional Chinese doctors and their patients are much more occupied with finding a way to prevent the illness than to cure it. With other words, acupuncture can be used for keeping us healty.

Are there persons who must not use acupuncture?

It is important to say that the number of these people is very few. It is said that acupuncture is not used with:

  • Patients who are on drugs (heavy psychotic medicine, immune-depressives and others)
  • Very old and exhausted patients
  • Acute alcoholics
  • Acute poisoning and other

Of course, your chosen doctor will make the right decision after examining and talking with you and he will provide you with all the necessary explanations.

What are the preparations?

  • Having enough time
  • Dressing up in simple and comfortable clothes
  • Avoiding make-up, parfume and jewellery before going to acupuncture
  • Avoiding tiredness and too heavy meals before acupuncture
Can acupuncture be dangerous?

Every patient must know that acupuncture is the most harmless type of treatment.
Treatment with acupuncture-there are no side effects and cannot harm at all.

I hate needles!

Although many people do not like needles, most of them are surprised with the minimal unpleasant feeling they get when the needles are applied!
It is important to know that there are other ways of stimulating the acupunctural spot, which does not include the needle. These are the following:

  • Acupressure
  • Maxibustion
  • Laser AC
  • Microwave AC
  • Ultra sound AC
  • And other

Two frequently asked questions:

  1. Will it hurt?
  2. How long will it last?

1. For the question 'will it hurt?' my answer is: No, it will not! If the patient wants this treatment be painless, he has to do the following:
Choosing a doctor (and trusting him).
He must believe in the power of acupuncture, like in everything else.
If the above-mentioned conditions are fullfilled, my experience confirms that in that case the patient will not feel pain, and the treatment will be effective.

2. How long will the treatment last? This question can best be aswered during the first examination. Here are a few data for those who have not had any expeience with acupuncture:
The treatment is in seances; one séance means one treatment which lasts for 10-15 minutes. If it is a chronic illness, more than one treatment will be necessary.
One treatment means 10 occasions, which can be carried out every day or rarely: for instance 2 or 3 times per week.

Another frequently asked question:
Will the result be permanent?
It depends on the illness, there are many illnesses when the result is permanent: migraine, bed-wetting, painful periods (menstruation), and so on. The list would be too long.

Will I feel better immediately after the treatment?
The answer is yes.

I have to travel, how can I carry on the treatment?

There are no harmful consequences; sometimes permanent needles can be applied. In all cases we continue with the treatment immediately after the patient is back.

Do I have to quit my current treatment if I want to use acupuncture?

Your doctor-acupuncturologist can give you exact answers for your question. In most of the cases a satisfying solution can be reached.

Do I have to go on a strict diet while I am under acupuncture treatment?

No, you don't, but it is still good to know where to change the way in your current nutrition. A more detailed instruction about your nutrition will be given by your doctor.

Can acupuncture heal serious diseases?
